FOUR people were taken to hospital following a car crash in Gravesend early yesterday morning.

A silver Peugeot was involved in a collision with two parked cars; a Vauxhall Corsa and a Toyota Prius at around 1am in Old Road East.

An 18-year-old driver of the Peugeot was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries but is in a stable condition, while four passengers in the car received minor injuries.

Police officers attempted to stop the Peugeot after it was seen driving erratically prior to the crash. The car failed to stop and a police chase ensued, which ended after the police car received damage. Officers then witnessed the collision.

Two men climbed free from the wreckage while Kent Fire and Rescue Service released the other three passengers from the Peugeot using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Anyone who saw the collision or has information about the events leading up to it is asked to call the serious collision witness appeal line on 01622 798538.
