Queen Sofia of Spain popped in for a bit of unscheduled Christmas shopping in the Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells.
The Queen of Spain was joined in her retail therapy by her daughter Princess Elena, Duchess of Lugo.
They were closely followed by their team of security staff as they browsed the stores.
Queen Sofia is considered to be one of the most stylish of European royals, often recognised by the Spanish press for her outfits.
The Royal pair enjoyed a successful trip at Royal Victoria Place leaving laden with shopping bags after several hours in the centre.
Shopping centre marketing manager Marc Burchett said: "We were delighted to welcome Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Elena, Duchess of Lugo to Royal Victoria Place for this private festive shopping trip. Royal Tunbridge Wells has always proved a popular destination with royals throughout the town’s history and therefore it is a great honour that they choose to come and visit us during our special year.”
Royal Victoria Place is also currently paying tribute to another of its royal connections by marking the 21st Anniversary of its official opening by the late Diana, Princess of Wales with a community art project which will recreate an image of Queen Victoria through a photo mosaic for display in the centre.
The local community are being invited to join in the project by submitting a photo of themselves and their family to www.victoria-at21.com
The completed project will be unveiled early next year.
