AN ICE alert has been issued for the county's roads as Kent braces itself for sub-zero temperatures overnight.

Kent Highways has advised drivers to stay alert for icy roads this evening as temperatures fall below freezing point.

All major roads are to be treated by road gritters, but caution is still being urged by the authority.

The ice alert reads: "Motorists are advised to watch out for icy patches/stretches particularly on the untreated roads overnight and tomorrow morning, and should expect the surface to be slippery.

"They should drive cautiously and be deliberate and slower in actions."

Snow flurries have been seen across the county over the past 24 hours, but no travel disruption has been reported.
