A MAN died today after his car was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on the M25.
He was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident between a lorry and three cars between junctions 4 and 5 on the clockwise carriageway.
A woman remains in a serious but stable condition after being taken to a London hospital by the air ambulance.
Kent Police and two fire crews from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene after 10.15am.
The lorry driver has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
The clockwise carriageway remains closed between junctions 4 and 5 while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit carry out an investigation at the scene.
The road is due to be reopened at about 5pm.
A diversion route is in place via the M20 and M26, back on to the M25 at junction 5, where there remain delays following earlier carriageway repairs in lane one between the Clackett Lane services and junction 6 for Godstone.
