THERE is chaos on the M25 this morning after a mobile crane caught fire.

One lane remains closed and traffic is moving slowly passed the scene at J1b near the A282 (Dartford).

The crane is in the hard shoulder and traffic is queueing back to Junction 30 for the A13.

There is also traffic in the anticlockwise direction, as rubberneckers slow to check out the scene.

Firefighters were called at 6.55am to tackle the blaze, which started in the engine compartment of a HGV mobile crane.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots. Crews were at the scene for approximately one and a half hours."
