MORE than 90 golfers teed off in aid of a Crowborough charity.

Some 24 teams of players hit the greens and fairways at East Sussex National Golf Resort, near Uckfield, to raise money for the Horder Centre in St John's Road, Crowborough.

Consultants, doctors, patients and other staff at the centre were joined by local businesses for the fundraiser and the golfers clubbed together more than £3,000 for the charity.

The winning team consisted of orthopaedic surgeon Andrew Skyrme, Mike Saunders, Neil Sulke and Steve Furniss.

They were pushed all the way by a number of competitive teams including the Pestell family, made up of three generations with grandparents Brian and Valerie, their son Kevin and grandson William all playing.

Organiser Angela Reynolds said: "There was a little bit of rain but it didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm for a great day. I'm very grateful to everyone who took part in what is one of our biggest fund raising events of the year."
