Homes in west Kent have flooded this morning after last night's heavy downpours.

Fire crews were pumping out water at properties in Westerham, Knockholt, and Swanley at 10.40am.

Three people have also been rescued after two cars became trapped in floodwater on Scratchers Lane in Fawkham.

Call operators have received 15 weather-related calls since 7am affecting areas in Brasted, Sevenoaks, Halstead, Dunton Green, Edenbridge and Swanley.

The Environment has issued three flood warnings -meaning immediate action is required - across the county and several flood alerts.

The A25 in Sevenoaks is closed between Brasted and the Sundridge crossroads due to the flooding.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternative route as there will be delays.

The M26 Coastbound via junction 2a near Borough Green is also closed.

A Kent Highways spokesman said: "Traffic wanting to join the A20 should use the M25 and M20."

Meanwhile Southeastern trains are now operating between Swanley and Chatham following an earlier landslip.
