TRADERS are being urged to carefully check cash transactions after fake banknotes were discovered at a petrol station in Folkestone.
Kent Police was called to a garage in Tram Road at 8.50am on Wednesday following a report of a number of fake £20 notes being used to pay for petrol.
A Vauxhall Astra car was stopped near the Church Hougham area of Dover at 9.40am the same day, and all five male occupants were arrested in connection with the incident.
A 28-year-old and a 24-year-old from Dover, a 21-year-old from Deal and two 28-year-old men from Folkestone have been bailed until April 5 pending further enquiries.
Businesses are now being warned to look out for suspicious-looking money which may be in circulation.
