Good Friday, March 29

THE OLD COUNTRY CROWS: Tomorrow, Friday, at 9pm in the Fox Inn, Temple Ewell, Dover. The Old Country Crows are based in Dover and Deal and play their own material in the style light country acoustic folk rock. With some major Kent festivals on the calendar for 2013 and an album to be recorded in May the next few weeks would be a great time to catch the band live. The Good Friday show will feature the debut in the band of drummer Al Morgan.

SAINSBURY'S: On Friday, March 29, customers visiting Sainsbury's at Folkestone will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun Easter activities. Activities are to include an Easter egg hunt with prizes, face painting, tombola and a colouring competition. Some proceeds from the tombola will be going to our local charity. The days will include lots of family fun and will be a perfect way to get everyone in the Easter spirit.

RARE BREEDS: From Good Friday, March 29, until Easter Monday, April 1, the Rare Breeds Centre, Woodchurch, Ashford, TN26 3RJ, is open from 10.30am to 5.30 pm. With activities throughout the day including meet the animals in the children's barn, pig washing, pig racing, trailer rides and birds of prey demonstration. As well as a fantastic pantomime in the marquee come and join Bella on her mystical journey! (See times on the day). There will be an quiz trail for all the family through the woods up to the secret lake and of course the Easter bunny hunt around the farm, with chocolate rewards for the kids to enjoy (collect yours from the shop). RHDR: School's out for Easter between Good Friday, March 29 and April 4. Board a train at any of the six stations and explore a variety of different activities and land marks along the way. The station at Dymchurch is just a five minute walk from the village shops and cafés and, for that bracing stroll, the beach! The station at New Romney is where you will find our newly refurbished Model Railway Exhibition, a superb play park, complete with picnic tables and a shop stocked full of toys and gifts for visitors of all ages. Only five miles away, and 35 minute by train from New Romney, is Dungeness Station. Why not enjoy a plate of freshly cooked fish and chips from the Light Railway Café or sit in the garden overlooking the platform and watch our world famous miniature trains wind their way across this unique landscape. The daily service commences on March 23, operating a peak time service from Good Friday, March 29, to Easter Bank Holiday Monday, April 1 inclusive, with trains every 40 minutes and then an hourly service from April 2 to 14 inclusive.

PORT LYMPNE: Eggciting Easter fun at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, near Ashford, from Good Friday, March 29, to Sunday, April 14. Lots of eggciting offerings this Easter to keep the family entertained throughout the holidays, with fun filled educational talks and self-guided trails, to activities such as an animal themed Easter egg hunt with the opportunity to win an incredible prize. DOVER CASTLE: Children's Festival from Good Friday, March 29 to Easter Monday, April 1, 10am to 5pm. A fun packed day out for kids of all ages at Dover Castle, Castle Hill, CT16 1HU. Get stuck into junior jousting, hands on with knights training and rough and tumble through the assault course. Be amazed at the fire show, children's theatre and join with music through the ages. EAST KENT RAILWAYS: Come and celebrate the Easter holidays with a trip on our heritage railway. Woodland walks, tree planting, wildlife activities, railway golf, Easter egg hunt and many more fun activities for the whole family! LEEDS CASTLE: Easter treasure hunt from Good Friday, March 29, to Monday, April 1, at Leeds Castle, Maidstone, ME17 1PL. Follow a treasure trail through the grounds to be in with a chance of winning a 2013 gold sovereign (worth more than £250). Arts and craft activities will also be available in a marquee. A small additional charge of £2.50 per child applies which will include a treasure hunt card, chocolate coin and craft activities.  For more information call 01622 765400.

HOWLETTS: Eggciting Easter activities from Friday, March 29, to Sunday, April 14, at Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury, CT4 5EL. Plenty of things to do for the whole family during the Easter holidays, from fun educational talks and self-guided trails, to activities such as building hotels for native bugs and bumblebees or taking part in a game of bingo, helping to identify native insects that can be spotted around the park. The park has also announced that the popular treetop challenge, an obstacle course set in the trees, with rope bridges and zip wires, will be open throughout the holidays as will the animal adventure challenge, designed for younger thrill seekers, highlights include bird nest swings and climbing walls. Saturday, March 30

EASTER EGG TRAIL: Kingsdown pre-school's annual Easter egg trail takes place on Saturday, March 30, between 1 and 3pm, starting from Kingsdown village hall. Join us for the ever popular trail around the woods, discovering the clues to win an Easter egg prize. There's also the return of the separate hunt for older children. Plus, keep your eyes peeled for the real Easter Bunny hiding out in the woods! Face painting, Easter art and craft activities, refreshments, homemade cakes and a prize raffle. Entry £3 per child. Easter Sunday, March 31

WALK: Easter Sunday, March 31, at 2pm Samphire Hoe. Eggcellent Easter egg challenge (Green Gang). Can you succeed in the egg assault course? Who will win the egg rolling competition? Please bring your own hard-boiled egg and spoon. Suggested donation of £2. Meet at Samphire Hoe (pay and display car park) for a 1 mile walk. For more information call Steve Walker on 01304 225649.

RNLI: Dungeness RNLI lifeboat station is hosting an Easter egg hunt at the boathouse on Sunday, 31 March, from 11am to 4pm. Our RNLI volunteers have loads of Easter eggs hidden in the pebbles for everyone to find. Refreshments will be available all day and our souvenir shop will be open. DUCK RACE: The Easter duck race takes place in Smarden on Easter Sunday, March 31. You can sponsor a duck at the post office, the local butchers or in one of the village pubs for £1 ahead of the race. The race starts at 1pm and proceeds go to the Sports Association.

 

Wednesday, April 03

DOVER MUSEUM: Family day; roman mosaics. Adults and children alike can make a Roman style paper mosaic. Choose from a variety of designs or design your own. Drop in anytime between 10am to 4pm.
