THE CONSISTENTLY high standards of beer and service at a Capel pub have been recognised with a special achievement award.

Licensees Nick and Shelley Page of The Dovecote Inn received the award from the Campaign For Real Ale (Camra) on Saturday February 14 to mark the pub's inclusion in every edition of the Good Beer Guide for the past 10 years.

The Camra publication lists 4,500 UK hostelries and The Dovecote Inn in Alders Road is only the fourth to manage the feat of appearing 10 times in a row.

Mr and Mrs Page, who have been at the pub for three years, knew nothing about the award until the Camra delegation arrived to make the presentation.

"It was a lovely surprise," said Mrs Page, 43. "We're absolutely thrilled to bits. It's due to the hard work of Nick and our bar manager Charlie Warman."
