CANTERBURY has been named as a Lottery ticket winner hotspot.

Number crunchers for the National Lottery have revealed that the city is the top third of the luckiest areas in the country for ticket hopefuls scooping top prizes in the last two years.

Canterbury district has had 27 millionaires created and 183 prizes of more than £50,000 claimed since it began in 1994.

To mark the district’s lucky streak the city council will be awarded a National Lottery Lucky postcode town.

A National Lottery spokesperson said, “Congratulations to the people of Canterbury they live in one of the UK’s luckiest postcodes. Maybe the magnificent cathedral has given the Canterbury postcode a divine dose of luck?”
