An exciting new venture by a local woman, Joanne Westbrook,  who, disheartened by so many of the larger shops closing down, has decided to start up her own community market at Hawkinge Community Centre which will take place on the last Saturday of every momth.

"Its an ideal opportunity to bring local service and produce under one roof " explains Jo.

After months of hard work and planning, the first market will take place on 23rd February between 12:30 - 2:30pm and offers a variety of goods for the whole family. Vintage Goods nestle side by side with spiritualist readers and Tarot cards, Jewellery stalls stand by delicious nibbles whilst for the children a bouncy castle and face painting are on offer as well as many more stalls.More than just a craft market, Jo 's vision is reminiscent of the days of Folkestone indoor market offeingr a variety of stalls by local people.

As Jo quotes  " not only is it a chance for local people to promote their creativity, it brings together the local community and encourages the purchase of local produce "
