ARRESTS have been made as part of a major three month long sting to reduce the number of burglaries and vehicle thefts.

Police were called to Herne Bay station at 9.45pm yesterday (Wednesday), where they arrested two men aged 19 and 21 from the town on suspicion of trying to steal a moped.

Then at 2.20 this morning, a 36-year-old man was arrested on the A28 after a burglary was reported at a house in The Friars in Canterbury.

Earlier this week, 28-year-old Anthony Wood from St Peter's Street in Maidstone was charged with a robbery in Canterbury on January 29.

A man and a woman were also arrested and bailed.

The arrests were part of Operation Castle, a police campaign to reduce the number of offences across the county, catch culprits, increase victim satisfaction and deter would-be criminals.

As well as enforcement action, Kent Police has issued crime prevention advice, which is available to read at www.kent.police.uk/advice/advice.html
